Industry first offers physical, virtualized and cloud-based data protection customized specifically for Cisco UCS fabric.

CISCO LIVE, U.S. -- June 24, 2013 -- Unitrends, the leading provider of all-in-one backup, archiving, instant recovery and disaster recovery solutions, today announced at Cisco Live that its Unified Data Protection offering can now be customized for Cisco Unified Computing System™ (UCS) platforms. This strategic initiative marks another industry first in Unitrends’ long history of offering cutting-edge backup and recovery solutions.

Unitrends’ Unified Data Protection for the Cisco UCS was created to combine the power of Unitrends’ comprehensive data protection software, Unitrends Enterprise Backup™, with Cisco’s integrated compute platform. This dynamic combination transforms data centers by bringing computing, networking, storage access and virtualization together with backup, archiving, instant recovery and disaster recovery in a single solution for the midmarket. When UCS administrators implement Unitrends’ Unified Data Protection solution, they automatically receive protection for all UCS configuration elements, including IOS router configurations, CIMC configurations, firmware versions, and storage and fabric interconnect profiles.

Launched in June 2012, Unitrends Enterprise Backup is the industry’s only native all-in-one Microsoft® Windows Server® 2012 Hyper-V® role and Hyper-V 2012 Server backup, archiving, instant recovery and disaster recovery virtual appliance. Unitrends was also the first vendor to support Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V and VMware® vSphere™ 5.1. With Unitrends Enterprise Backup, IT administrators can protect and recover nearly everything in their IT environment regardless of where it’s housed – on-premise, in virtualized environments or in the cloud.

“Cisco’s entrance into the blade server market in 2009 has accelerated their growth in the compute and virtualization space and extended their ability to meet overall data center needs,” said Dr. Mark Campbell, chief strategy and technology officer, Unitrends. “Thus far in 2013, Cisco has garnered more than 15 percent of the market, with a good portion of its user base within the midmarket – exactly where Unitrends excels. With innovation as our guiding principle, we saw the opportunity to capitalize on a market need by coupling our Unified Data Protection technology with Cisco’s UCS platform. The result is a cutting-edge solution that offers SMEs enterprise-class, shrink-wrapped data protection at the lowest total cost of ownership in the industry.”

Unitrends’ support for the Cisco UCS fabric will be generally available in the second half of 2013. For a limited time, existing Cisco UCS users and partners can request a free, 5 TB license of UEB (a $24,000 value) by registering their UCS serial number at http://go.unitrends.com/CiscoLive2013.
